Black stool: could be melena, or occult blood in the stool. Blood changes color from red to black when it is exposed to enzymes in the GI tract. The bleeding could be coming from ulcerations in stomach or elsewhere, or even a tumor, in the upper GI tract, Have your doctor take a look at you.
