A member asked:

Using a rest area bathroom & noticed a blood/period stain under the toilet we were going to use. i may have stepped on it. any risk of disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

DISEASE FROM BLOOD: Unless you were barefooted the risk of disease is minimal. Blood borne diseases, for the most part, are sensitive to air/light. There are a few exceptions. Stepping on blood with a shoe is no big deal. Wash it off with soap and water. Wash your hands before and after this process. If you touched the blood, there is a bit more risk. If you were barefoot, there is risk.
