Have a sore small redish lump on spine/upper back area today but noticed it was sore about a week ago. not sure what it could be.

Cyst: It is possible that you have a sebaceous cyst with infection. There are other possibilities of course but it cannot be accurately determined without an examination. You should see your doctor for evaluation.
