A member asked:

How long will i have to weight to sing after my thyroidectomy? surgery is jan 28th, band is playing a benefit feb 7th. i do backups only.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Should be OK: Hi. We must assume the thyroidectomy is being done for thyroid cancer. In the hands of a good surgeon, recurrent laryngeal nerve (the nerves that drive the vocal cords) damage is extremely unlikely, and the surgical wound heals quite quickly. So if you're comfortable, go ahead and sing! And good luck with your thyroid disease process! And it's how long you have to wait, not "weight".
