Variable position: The testes can be voluntarily retracted into the abdomen at a young age. Most men lose this ability as they get older. If it was certain that the testes were in the scrotum on an earlier study then this doesn't represent "undescended testes". If you are concerned, the test can be repeated. Young boys tend to retract testes when they are examine which could lead to misdiagnosis.

Undescended testes: Testes misdiagnosed as descended at age 3 days because Dr must have pushed scrotum up to testes. Best locate testes with boy sitting & legs dangling, then massage & hold teses in scrotum to tire cremasteric (spermatic cord) muscle. Retractile if remains in scrotum for at least a moment, undescended if it doesn't. Descended testes only become retractile after about age 1 year & stops after puberty
