Laughing gas: The nitrous will make you feel more relaxed during the deep cleaning a dis used for patients with high anxiety. Ask your dentist all your questions and discuss your concerns about using laughing gas. The choice is yours. You can have a deep cleaning without laughing gas if you choose. You will have novacaine so you will not have any pain during the procedure so the gas is up to you.

Deep Cleaning: No worries. You probably have calculus buildup and/or deep pocketing. To treat you correctly and thoroughly, the hygienist (or dentist) will need to get under the gum to remove the debris. This can become uncomfortable, but with the nitrous oxide you'll be relaxed and indifferent.

The comfort zone: Laughing gas is used when a patient is having any form of dental work, for example the routine cleaning, the filling of a cavity or treatment of an abscessed tooth. The laughing gas helps you to relax making the procedure comfortable.
