Not usually: Generally speaking, viral pleurisy is a self limited disease that doesn't directly involve the heart. It is an inflammation of the pleura, which is the lining that covers the lung and the inside of the chest wall. These surfaces are very smooth, but when infected by a virus they become inflamed, which can cause pain with inspiration as the lung approaches the chest wall.
