HIV Testing: The CDC just put out a letter in December of 2014 updating the recommendations of laboratory testing for the diagnosis of HIV infection, this document talks about using the combo test as the definitive test when negative instead of going to the western blot. However the guidelines for testing have not been updated since 2006. That is the reason testing continues in the U.S. Past 12 weeks.
