A member asked:

I have bumps on the left side of my tongue and have been their for months now. they don't hurt nor do they prevent me from drinking, eating, talking.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually taste buds: Malignancies of the tongue are seen mostly in drinkers and smokers. When they appear they start as a leukoplakia or white patch or more commonly as a superficial ulcerating lesion on lateral side of tongue. These lesions progress in size. They do not appear as "bumps". Have H&N exam and possible bx is suspicious.
