Wear and tear: It is common to wake up with some back discomfort that improves with activity. Normal wear and tear (also called arthritis) can cause stiffness when in 1 place for a long time. The discs in the spine also retain fluid at night which can cause some discomfort. Treatment depends on your exam. Anti- inflammatory and pt helpful. See a physiatrist.
