Bites versus MRSA: This sounds like the picking of the sores led to trauma of the skin and thus bruising. But, the other common scenario i see all of the time is that the bites are actually methiciillin staph infections known as mrsa. The doctor definitely needs to evaluate this situation and to get you on appropriate treatment right away.
