Need an eval: A more detailed history and physical exam performed by a physician can guide you. Common causes of shoulder pain include rotator cuff and biceps tendonitis, labral (cartilage ring in the shoulder) tears and osteoarthritis (less common). Initial treatment before seeing a doc can include rest from aggravating actitvities, icing and anti-inflammatories such as advil or aleve (naproxen). Pain>2 weeks = doc visit.
