Both possible: It's possible to get reinfected with scabies if you did not get rid of the source. Wash everything (clothes, towels, linens) and wrap in plastic unwashables for 5 days to kill the mites/eggs. Post-scabetic hypersensitivity can persist for 1-2 months even after proper treatment.
