Possibly surgery: There are many potential causes, but it sounds like you may have carpal tunnel syndrome. A nerve conduction test can usually determine the cause. If it is carpal tunnel syndrome and you are still symptomatic after bracing, then either injection therapy or surgery are the two more involved options. Thank you for your question.

Diagnosis first: hand pain, numbness can indicate carpal tunnel or another nerve compression syndrome. Once your diagnosis is made then anti-inflammatory medication, corticosteroid injections, work modification, further testing to see if other things such as metabolic or endocrine or inflammatory conditions exist. Talk to your PCP and consider a consultaion with a hand surgeon
