A member asked:

Does scar tissue show up on a knee mri?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

MRI: Scar tissue inside the knee can show up on MRI sometimes. The knee is surrounded by an envelope or capsule and what people often refer to as scar tissue can be shrinking of the capsule. If there was some soft tissue injury such as a muscle tear then it may show up on mri. It also depends on the size of the magnet. There are 3.0 tesla magnets out now which show more then smaller magnets.
