What is the most ideal frequency of washing your face?

Never: My own insight is that the face be rinsed to get dust off but, absent obvious grime, soap is not indicated. The reason is that the facial skin secretes oils with antibacterial qualities. I wonder if we are only species with a social habit of face washing. The most beautiful facial skin i ever saw was a german woman who threw cold water on her face each morning.
