Spit up versus vomit: Quite normal for many babies to spit up small amounts of milk/formula after feeding. Should be white & not green which could be sign of intestinal obstruction. Helped by vigorous burping. Larger volumes can be associated with gastric reflux, helped by keeping baby tilted head up. Projectile vomiting is another matter & could indicate presence of pyloric stenosis. Can be diagnosed sonographically.
