Elevated blood sugar: If your blood sugar remains elevated, you will see a rise in your hemoglobin a1c. This "smooths out" the up and down variations in your blood sugar level, and give an indication of the average over time of your blood sugar. So if it is elevated, that means you have diabetes.

Estimates average gl: The hba1c is an estimate of your average glucose over the past 3 mod, but weighted heavily toward to most recent time period. It measures how much glucose has bound to the hemoglobin molecules in your red blood cells. It is only an estimate, however. It is affected more by postmeal glucose at normal glucose levels, and fasting at higher levels. Doesn't replace glucose monitoring at home.

Diabetic measure.: The HgbA1C is a measure reflective of your degree of diabetic control in the long term. It essentially represents a three month average of your fingersticks, as if you took a fingerstick every minute, night and day, eating and fasting, for three months straight and then averaged them all. Technically, it's the percentage of red blood cells that have glucose attached to them.
