No single best med: There is no single best medicine. There are stimulants such as methylphenidate (ritalin) and amphetamines (adderall), non-stimulants such as atomoxetine (strattera) and Imipramine (tofranil) used off-label. I aim for a 50-60% decrease in attention deficit symptoms. None of these medicines does that for more than 50% of patients. Brain mapping of the p300 helps predict which medicine migh work best.

Patient related.: Different patient will respond differently to medication, there is no best medication, it is what ever works best to that particular patient. There are stimulant and non stimulant medications that will help with adhd.

Depends: It depends on the individual.Are there any co-existing conditions such as anxiety, depression, sleep difficulty, etc? Although claims are made of scans, and brain-mapping techniques that help improve prescribing accuracy, the sensitivity/cost ratio is hard to accept.A thorough history , exam and a carefully monitored management plan improves therapeutic compliance and response.

No one best: There is no one best medication. Among the most common are stimulants such as methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta) and amphetamines (dexroamphetamine-dexedrine, Adderall and Vyvanse). Other medications that can be helpful include Strattera, Provigil, Nuvigil, Wellbutrin (bupropion) and Imipramine.
