Probably not: If pain during normal bowel movements is your only symptom it is unlikely the be irritable bowel syndrome. Consider rectal fistula or rectal abscess if the pain occurs when stool is exiting. If the pain occurs when straining and it is on the left side consider descending colon pathology. If this persists, at least a colonoscopy should be done, and possible a ct of the abdomen.

Hello. I have a very sensitive bowel and have IBS. When I am very stressed I tend to block up. What i have noticed in the last few months, is the presence of blood during bowel movement. Light red but a larger amount than normal - could it be fissure?
2-3x/day for 2 days: excruciating, sharp, stabbing pain in lower left abdomen and rectum, relieved by bowel movement, passing gas or walking. Colonoscopy 1 yr ago was normal. No nausea/vomiting/fever/blood in stool. Could this be gastritis or IBS?
Can constipation and trapped wind cause hip, side and back pain? Have ibs & suffer with constipation, have these pains which ease with bowel movement.
