Nerve irritation: The spinal nerve roots can be pinched nerve in the spinal canal by the disk or as it comes out of the foramen between the vertebrae again by the bone or disk. When the nerve is irritated by trauma there is spasm of multiple muscles supplied by the irritated spinal nerve root. The pinching is in the muscle at trigger points when the muscle goes into spasm chokling small blood vessels, nerves.
