Herniated discs: Herniated discs in the neck (cervical spine) can cause pain, numbness, or weakness in the neck, shoulders, chest, arms, and hands. In some cases a very large herniated disc in the neck may cause weakness or unusual tingling affecting other parts of the body, including the legs.

Therapy, medications: Often times, there is no cause identified. Initial treatments for ddd of the neck include physical therapy, massage, medications. Some try acupuncture or chiropractic manipulation. If symptoms are more severe, consider pain management for stronger medications. Sometimes symptoms are still there. Consider an evaluation by a spine surgeon to discuss surgery at that point.
