Pain, swelling, and bruising typically occur with your injury. If symptoms are not improving and/or persist, see your healthcare provider for evaluation. Possibilities include ankle sprain, strain, or even fracture.

RICE: Rest. Ice 20 minutes on/20 minutes off. Compression (use ace wrap or otc ankle brace to squeeze out bad inflammatory fluid). Elevate. Take something for pain/inflammation like Ibuprofen (if you don't have reason not to like stomach ulcer, bleeding or kidney problems).
