CHF: Hi, sorry to hear about your nana, CHF has 4 stages (A,B,C & D), depending on what stage she is in, the treatment specially during the exacerbation would be different and the response to the treatment, also. Other comorbidities like lung dx (COPD in ur nana), kidney dx and etc could make it more difficult. What is her EF (Ejection Fraction)? Hope she feels better soon.

See Below: Your nana has two chronic and somewhat dangerous medical problems. Treating them can be very tricky. Sometimes if they are acting up severely, a longer stay in the hospital is necessary to treat them. The best thing to do is ask the doctors taking care of her, as they will have the most up to date information, and can best tell you what is going on. Hope this helps!

Readmission: Readmissions to the hospital after treatment for CHF is not unusual due to reaccumulation of fluid which can be caused by salt intake and/or inadequate diuretic dose. COPD complicates the problem and testing is needed to determine whether CHF or copd is the major problem as treatment is different for these conditions. Often consultation with specialists is needed all of which takes time.

CHF: CHF or COPD exacerbations can occur due to infections or poor compliance to medications or diet or exposure to noxious environment.
