Warm compresses: Cold tends to make muscles tighten more; moist heat increases blood flow and decreases pain and spasm. Mild range-of-motion exercises help stretch & relax the muscles. Nsaids (aleve/motrin etc if tolerated by stomach ) can reduce pain & inflammation. Do not mix with blood thinners) magnesium (low dose) can help relax muscles. Therapeutic massage is helpful.
