Possibly: Cleaning out the external ear canal can irritate and injure it. This leads to infection, called external otitis. Diagnosed & treated early, it clears up quickly without any risk of hearing loss. You should have your doctor check it out soon. It is easily treated with ear drops. You should avoid cleaning out your ears with q-tips or any other object...Because it causes just what you have now.

Was it cotton swab?: If you used a cotton swab to "clean" your ear, there is a significant risk that you scratched (caused abrasion of) your outer ear canal--which could have led to an outer ear infection. The other possibility is that you may have packed the earwax down into the canal so as to wedge it causing undue pressure on that part of the ear--triggering jaw pain. You may have TMJ pain totally unrelated. See md.
