Change lifestyle: 1) lose weight. 2) regular cardio exercise at least 20", 3-4x/week. 3) change eating habits for life. Cut way down on sugars and simple carbs (white foods). Eat protein, veggies, limited fruits. Not only will this affect her blood sugar, it will change her life. She will feel 10 years younger. Good luck.

Lose weight: Since you can't change your age or genetics, the only factor you can change is to lose weight through diet/exercise. Some would even advise beginning medication like metformin to lower your risk of progressing to true diabetes. Also, make sure BP and lipids are controlled.
