A member asked:

Can using anbesol on hymen before first time intercourse help in avoiding the pain? are there any other medicine/drugs to numb the hymen?

Deflorination: In this day of tampons for periods, many women by the age of 20 have already obliterated their hymen. Generally, it is rare to have an intact hymen anyway.. First intercourse, on the other hand, can be uncomfortable so i would suggest that you definitely use a lubricant and engage in lots of foreplay. Communicate with your sex partner that this is your first time and to go very slowly & gently.

Thanks for asking!: Anbesol is not indicated for using in the vaginal area. Lidocaine 2% or 4% cream can be potentially used with application about 10-15 mins prior to intercourse. Close attention should be paid to recommended dosages for the cream, especially with the 4% to avoid toxicity.
