Yes I worry: Lymph nodes swell due to an infection or a tumor. You need to be checked soon. Either way you will need treatment by a doctor. It is curable, don't procrastinate. Infections are treated by antibiotics, if its a some kind of lymphoma, it is still curable if diagnosed early.

Yes and yes.: Yes, lymph nodes are present throughout the body, and they may be palpable. Yes, if the presence of ln is recent, you should monitor them, and persistence and especially enlargement should encourage evaluation by your physician.

Yes, it's possible: Any illness that affects the whole body can cause generalized lymph node enlargement. Classic example is mononucleosis (epstein-barr virus). Other viral illnesses, bacterial infxns, lupus, immunodeficiency disorders, lymphoma, leukemia, sarcoidosis, hiv. See pcp for basic exam & blood work (like a cbc). Doc can determine cause & help set your mind at ease.

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc everywhere. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well.
