Indirect link: Some kinds of kidney disease and heart disease share the same causes and risk factors. A weak heart can affect kidney function. If the kidneys fail it can cause the heart to get overloaded with too much blood volume. The kidneys and heart have a very close relationship.

Disease: Commonly atherosclerotic disease will affect both the kidney and the heart. Independently however because they are both essential organs the functions of each affects the other very importantly.
