How slow of a heart rate should be something to worry about?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Bradycardia: Bradycardia is diagnosed w/heart rate <60bpm. However, more important is symptomatic bradycardia eg when you feel weak, lightheaded or dizzy. That's when your heart rate is really too low. On the other hand, many well-trained endurance athletes have heart rates into the low 50s if not high 40s and do just fine. However, anyone who notices a sudden slowdown in heart rate needs to get evaluated.
