Genetic component: Yes, many of these conditions have an identified genetic component. A lot of the problems have been traced to sites on chromosome 16. More than not, however, remain unexplained, and are probably a combination of genetics and environment. You have done the right thing beginning therapy at 16 months. The sooner intervention begins, the better the outcome.
