Contact a dentist : There is a range of possibilities for your symptoms. Anything from decay(cavities) to damaged tooth due to trauma (grinding, abrasion) to recession. These all expose tooth structure that has direct access to the nerve, resulting in pain. This can only be truly diagnosed and treated by seeing a dentist in person. Getting an exam, possible x-rays and then given your full range of options. Good luck.

Sensitive teeth: Some people have sensitive teeth and it is normal for them. If the sensitivity has developed recently you may have cavities or periodontal disease and you should see your dentist for a comprehensive evaluation including x-rays.
