A member asked:

What does it mean to have blood genotype ac and its implication?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Carry HgbC: I am going to assume that you have had a hemoglobin electrophoresis and have discovered that you carry hemoglobin c. You're healthy but you need to know that if you marry someone who also carries hemoglobin c or hemoglobin s (sickle), your child has a 25% risk of having a lifelong troublesome blood disease. Talk about this with your physician & make responsible decisions.
