What procedure?: They probably drained the abscess, sometimes leaving packing material inside the cavity. If they did, you need to return to the doctor to remove packing and make sure all the contents are out. Watch for signs of infection, redness, swelling or warmth to the touch. You would need antibiotics at this point.
