Many types of IOL's: There are several types of intra-ocular lenses. The traditional monofocal requires you to get a second pair of glasses for either near of distance. Toric iol's are a premium type iol which means you pay extra for it. These and the multifocal require additional testing and expertise. The anterior chamber iol is used when there is no support for a traditionally located iol.

Basically two: There are basically two categories of intraocular lens implants: single focus and multi-focus. Single focus implants allow good vision at one distance and all other distances require glasses. Multi-focal implants can focus at more than one distance and provide for less glasses dependence after surgery.

Several types: There are several types of fda approved lens implants. These include standard single vision implants covered by insurance; plus other types of more advanced implants that are not. These advanced implants can be used to correct astigmatism, to function as a bifocal lens implants to correct distance and near vision (multifocal or accommodating technology implants).
