Talk to your Eye MD: If you have started a new medication, a rash under the eye is indeed a common sign of allergy, either to the medication itself or a preservative. You don't want to go into a surgical procedure with an inflammed eye, so you probably will need to switch drops before the procedure, and possibly get checked to r/o infection. I would call the on-call doctor in the group about this.

No: While you may be right that you have an allergic reaction to an eye drop, your cataract surgeon should delay your surgery until the rash clears. Please let your surgeon know.
