A member asked:

What food can i eat before taking a thyroid nuclear test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low iodine diet: The test gives you radioactive iodine, so you don't want to eat a lot of normal iodine, which will dilute the isotope. Avoid seaweed (kelp), dairy, eggs, iodine in vitamins and high salt foods. If the test is for graves or a nodule, it will not matter much. This is more of a concern if the test is for thyroid cancer, or if you are about to receive a treatment dose of radioiodine.
