A member asked:

Is it more difficult for type 1 diabetics to burn off excess fat even when committed to rigorous exercise regularly?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin and wt loss: You should be able to burn fat like anyone else. But your Insulin gets in the way. When you exercise, your blood glu drops and then you have to eat. High Insulin levels cause you to hold on to the fat. If you plan your food, Insulin and exercise carefully, you can control glu and lose weight. Some people benefit from a pump, but you need a provider who can assist you with this.
