Depends...: If this cough has been present for at least 3 weeks, it is considered a chronic cough. Etiologies of chronic cough include bronchospasm from any etiology, including chronic bronchitis, a form of COPD usually caused by smoking (and there is lung damage present.). Other causes include gerd, post-nasal drip. If you have chronic cough, see your doctor for evaluation and treatment.
