Trauma?: Sounds like you might have injured or traumatized your tongue. Could happen due to strong brushing, crusty, hard or sharp foods, hot food causing a burn, or any combination of the above. This should resolve within a week. Avoid hot, spicy foods. Be careful when you brush.

MRG: Sounds like median rhomboid glossitis which is basically a yeast infection. See your dentist for final diagnosis and if it is you will be prescribed an antifungal med which should help.
