Have it checked out: Sometimes tongue sores are caused by rubbing on the teeth and can be had to get rid of. (traumatic fibroma) however, if it is not going away, have it checked out by an ENT doctor. They can do a small biopsy in the office to check if it is an early tongue tumor. Should it be that, catching it early is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Get an examination: I agree with the answers you have gotten...This is an area where the tissue usually heals quickly...Since this has been going on for some time i would have it looked at.
