HIB vaccine ?: The hib vaccine first emerged in the early 90's as useful in infants in preventing hemophyllis type b meningitis. At the time, hib meningitis comprised >70% of infant bacterial meningitis & some other major infections. It's use has dropped the hib meningitis rate >95% in populations that use it.Menomune & Menactra are vaccines used to prevent Meningococcal meningitis, a different bacteria altogether.
