Yes: Mono is known as the kissing disease. It is transmitted by saliva and close intimate contact. It is a viral illness caused by the ebv (epstein barr virus) virus. It is usually a self limited illness but can have some serious manifestations and on ocasson can become a more chronic illness. Symptoms are sore throat, fever, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes in the back of neck and can have liver issues.
