Any insights on when does mono become contagious?

Hard to say: The variable 30-50 day incubation period makes timing the emergence of virus in saliva difficult. It likely starts just prior to the first fever and other symptoms and continues in most for 2-3 weeks. A few shed virus for 3 months and some do so episodically for several years.
