Obese: Genetics play a role in obesity but you still have to ingest too many calories and not exercise enough to burn off what you ingest.

obesity: Genetics is just one component of obesity. You may have a non-obese family, but you may develop obesity for a number of reasons including hypothyroidism, steroid hormone imbalances, etc. Also, look at your habits. Do you eat healthy? Cut out the carbs, sugars, soda, junk food, and exercise 3-4 times a week. That should cure your obesity.
