See below: Most cases of pharyngitis are viral infections and resolve spontaneously. If you have pus on your tonsils, fever, tender lymph nodes in your neck or a very painful throat see your md and have strep throat/gc ruled out. Take over the counter throat lozenges and tylenol (acetaminophen) for symptomatic relief.
