It varies: It varies somewhat, but most fractures heal in the 6-8 week range. If it is still painful at 5 weeks, it is either because it is still healing, or their may have been an additional component to the injury. Thank you for the question.

Hard 2 heal fast: The hamate can b a fx from one direct blow, and heal better tho not 5 wks. Many r actually stress fx's and have a poorer prognosis 4 healing.

Yes to both: It can heal after 5 weeks without treatment, and conversely it may not heal and can cause pain at 5 weeks post injury.
