Right upper quadrant abdominal or flank pain could be caused by diseases related to liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and less likely the right lung, colon, and right kidney. I tell my patients to go to the emergency room if they have severe symptoms like uncontrollable pain, inability to eat and drink, and GI bleeding. If not, schedule an ASAP appointment with your primary care provider
