See doctor: There are many possible explanations for your symptoms. Some common, fewer unusual ones. First step is to get checked. These are very common symptoms, so don't be worried, but see your doctor.

Possibility...: One common and easily treated possibility for your cough is bronchospasm. It is treated with bronchodilator and perhaps steroid inhalers. Your doctor will be able to diagnose this sometimes by simply listening to your chest with stethoscope, sometimes some testing is needed, like pulmonary function tests. If you smoke, you need to quit today. See your doctor but no need to worry! good luck!

Possible pertussis: If your cough has been prolonged with a respiratory infection, your dr can perform a blood test for mycoplasma or pertussis germs, both of which can cause your symptoms. He can also perform a breathing test to see whether or not you are wheezing, a sign of asthma. If neither of these are found, then you might have acid reflux.
